The 46-Rosary Devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe is a traditional Catholic spiritual practice of praying one Rosary a day for 46 consecutive days, beginning on October 28 and concluding on December 12, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
Meaning of the Number 46: Each of the 46 rosaries corresponds to one of the 46 stars visible on the mantle or tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Origin: The practice began over a century ago through José Antonio Plancarte y Labastida, who served as the abbot of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico. It originally involved gathering to pray the Rosary on the steps or in the gardens of the shrine. Purpose: The prayers are offered out of love and filial devotion, and to ask for intercession regarding family protection, the health of the sick, the conversion of sinners, and the needs of the Church.
